Dr. Werdah Iqbal

Veterinarian

Maternity Leave

Currently on maternity leave until the Spring of 2025

Dr. Werdah Iqbal knew she loved animals when she started collecting snails and earthworms near Lake Ontario when she was just a kindergartner. Her love of animals took her to Queen’s University for an undergraduate degree in Biology. She then went to the University of Guelph for a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, which she ended up completing along with her degree of Veterinary Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College.

Right after graduation, she made the big decision to move to Texas, where she worked in a rural clinic for nearly two years. During her time there, she gained a lot of experience in small animal surgery, emergency medicine and internal medicine. Eventually, she made her way back to Canada and has been practicing in the Durham area since. She has a strong passion for client education about things like preventative medicine, dental care, mobility care and more! Her favorite areas of practice are soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

Dr. Iqbal has an English Setter from Texas named Moose, who is her shadow and her bestest friend. She also has two cats, Brutus and Carbon. Brutus is a nearly 20 year old tabby and the sweetest boy while Carbon is a sassy young black cat that occasionally finds her way for a cuddle. In her free time, Dr. Iqbal enjoys hiking with Moose and her husband Ally, she loves travelling, photography, sketching, home renovations projects and baking!
